Introduction

Nordic Aquafarms is dedicated to leadership in fish welfare, quality and sustainability in land-based seafood production.

Nordic Aquafarms is the first company in Norway to move salmon production into large-scale land-based systems. Our Fredrikstad Seafoods facility under construction is the largest such facility in Europe.

In Denmark, we are investing in land-based production of Yellowtail Kingfish, a delicious fish already popular in international sushi and sashimi markets.

We care about the environment. Our philosophy is based on zero waste from production and a minimal environmental footprint. Discharge from our Norwegian facility is set to be the lowest in the industry.

All our products are guaranteed parasite free.

With land-based systems we achieve a very low environmental footprint, while also delivering a quality product. Use of chemicals is minimal. We recycle or clean all discharge from the facility.

The fresh Yellowtail will be available in the market in 2017.

Our salmon product will be available in the market in 2018.

Our approach

Quality

Ultimately all our investments and efforts boil down to delivering a fresh, top quality seafood product every week of the year. We are only satisfied when our products meet the standards of the most demanding seafood lovers.

We do more than make bold claims. Every aspect of our operation, including our seafood products, are subject to continuous monitoring and evaluation. Thus, we can document our quality story for every fish that is delivered.

We invest in best practices for our production. We invest in teams and people to build resilient learning organizations dedicated to quality development.

Traceability

We take food safety and our product claims seriously. We also take quality service to our customers very seriously. As we move into production in the Nordics in 2017, traceability is one of our highest priorities to meet these objectives.

We trace the origin of every batch of fish. We trace the water quality parameters they have been raised in. We trace the fish feed consumed. We trace the environmental impact of our production.

In addition to delivery traceability to our customers, we also apply this information to our own continuous improvement process. By analyzing this data and listening to our customers we have a very clear objective of raising the quality of every batch we produce to deliver a “best in class” product.

Innovation

Seafood farming, and in particular, land-based seafood farming is a young industry with a tremendous potential. Nordic Aquafarms is committed to partnering up with leading international research institutions and partners to continuously improve our production, our quality and our environmental footprint.

As we solve challenges we move on to the next, tirelessly. Why do we do this? Because knowledge development in this sector is a continuous process. We are committed to harnessing new knowledge to improve our own operations and the land-based sector in general. By doing this we constantly improve the value proposition to our customers, while also promoting practices for sustainable growth of the seafood industry.
