New investors in Nordic Aquafarms AS

Nordic Aquafarms is pleased to announce new important investors in its pursuit of industrial development in the land-based seafood farming sector. The company is currently constructing the worlds largest salmon facility based on the last generation of recirculation designs through its subsidiary Fredrikstad Seafoods.


Rasmussengruppen AS, located in Kristiansand, has invested 50 MNOK in Nordic Aquafarms AS. Toluma Invest AS, located in Oslo, has invested 20 MNOK. The existing shareholder group behind the company is composed of investors from Fredrikstad and Oslo.

Haakon Aschehoug from Rasmussengruppen (foto to the left) has joined the company board. Aschehough has a solid background from the finance and investment industry. The other board members are Arne-Erik Olsen, Petter W. Borg, Ketil Stave, Lars Henrik Røren and Bård Eker.


The company has an expansive growth strategy for the land-based market. Construction of the Fredrikstad Seafoods facility will be complete in December 2017. The first salmon will be ready for sale in December 2018. The facility will document the highest environmental standard among existing facilities internationally. In addition, its production is based on brackish water to enable optimal fish growth. Currently, the company plan is to expand the facility to 6000 tons annual production (se picture on top of the page of fully expanded facility).

Nordic Aquafarms is also a major shareholder in the the land-based facilities Sashimi Royal and Maximus in Denmark. Production in Denmark is based around the species Yellowtail Kingfish – a high value species in the sushi and sashimi market. The Danish operation is an integral part of the company´s overall international expansion plans.
